Harness the Potential of ML Applications in Drug Development
Saturday March 24th, 2018
An increased volume of data almost always yields more effective machine learning, and for those in drug development, the healthcare sector is the data equivalent of an oil reserve.
The AI Innovations for Life Science and Healthcare Summit, taking place June 13–14 in Philadelphia, will feature a dedicated AI in Life Science track to discuss use cases for machine learning in drug development and clinical trial design.
The use of machine learning in early-stage drug discovery can potentially be applied to optimize initial screening of drug compounds to predicted success rate based on biological factors. This includes R&D discovery technologies like next-generation sequencing. Josh Raysman, Head, AI Center for Excellence at PFIZER, will discuss this in his presentation that examines Pfizer’s partnerships with health systems to deliver better health outcomes.
Malaikannan Sankarasubbu, VP of AI Research at SAAMA TECHNOLOGIES, will explore several deep learning techniques that can be used to solve pharma NLP problems in his session, Address Pharma’s Big Data Problem and Even Bigger Text Problem.
Machine learning has several potentially useful applications in helping shape clinical trial design from applying advanced predictive analytics to identifying trial candidates to using electronic medical records monitoring biological and other signals for any sign of harm or death to participants. Ram Josyula, Master Black Belt Coach and AI Consultant at BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB, will address this and how pharma is utilizing machine learning to ensure pharmacovigilance at every step of the drug development process.
While applications, systems, and platforms have been developed to transform artificial intelligence in drug development, there is a still a need to explore practical use cases to best identify how innovative technologies can be operationalized. The AI in Life Science track will feature speakers who have harnessed the potential of machine learning applications in drug development.
